Carpenter History

Listed below are the Title Pages of the three sections that are in the book that Phyllis Carpenter had on the Carpenter Genealogy. There will be a link to each particular issue weather it is a document, photo, obit, etc to three different categories, Family Group Note Pages, Individual Note Page or the Carpenter Photo Album. Some of the documentation was not scanned because of its quality. Where possible I have typed some of the documentation.

The format this direct lines of the Carpenter genealogy was written in was somewhat confusing to me till I got a copy of the Carpenter Memorial. I have entered this information unedited and typed as it appears in the book.

Besides the Coat of Arms as seen on Link #3 above John R. Carpenter of CA sent me the following two images.

John and Alex.jpg (16916 bytes)

This picture shows Alex Carpenter, deceased, of England.

He is standing below the statue of John Carpenter, the younger, who was the Noted Town Clerk of London.

Money let in trust by the Noted Town Clerk has helped young men in London for centuries. In the late 1800s a school was opened in London and the statue of John the younger was placed there in honor.

During world War II, the school was very heavily damaged during the Blitz. The statue of John Carpenter was damaged and then missing for almost 20 years. In the mid 1960s it was placed in the current place in the "new" City of London School for Boys.

This is a photo copy in the CM of John Carpenter, Junior or the younger who was the noted Town Clerk of London. He had no children. We descend from his elder brother who was also named John.
