Joseph Ezra Clark (1862-1930)
Joseph Ezra Clark was born April 4, 1862 in Del Rio, Cocke County, Tennessee. He was the oldest child of Hugh Clark and Mary Ann Bible Clark.
Joseph moved to Texas with his parents in the 1870's. He met Margaret Franklin Fry who was born Dec. 3, 1867 in Burnet County, Texas. Their marriage license was issued October 28, 1885 in Burnet County, Texas. Margret is the daughter of Thomas Fry and Susannah Permelia Greer.
Soon after Joseph and Margaret's marriage they lived in the Morman Mill area. They lost a girl child at birth and she is buried in the Morman Mill Cemetery. The grave is up on a hill where the road crosses Hamilton Creek. It has a large rock fence around it which was rebuilt by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. Joseph and Margaret moved to San Saba County, Texas in 1903 with their family, brother Will and father Hugh. Joseph never accumulated many worldly goods. He worked for wages and he loved his family. He taught his family value, honesty and hard work. He loved to fish and hunt, and he practiced both at every opportunity.
Joseph and Margret had the following children:
Mary Ann Clark b: 22 April 1888 in Burnet County, Texas
Willie Evalyn "Bill" Clark b: 28 Aug 1890 in Burnet County, Texas
Lucy Jane Clark b: 22 Mar 1892 in Burnet County, Texas
Hugh Clark b: 16 Jan 1894 in Burnet County, Texas
Tom Clark b: 25 Dec 1897 in Burnet County, Texas
Ollie May Clark b: 6 Mar 1899 in Burnet County, Texas
Claude Wesley Clark b: 24 Aug 1902 in Burnet County, Texas
Howard Vernon "Dick" Clark b: 17 AUG 1905 in San Saba, TX
Joseph died August 30, 1930 in San Saba, Texas. Margaret died April 11, 1952. (See Obituary) Both are buried in the San Saba City Cemetery.
