Haward, Hayward, Hereward, Howard, HowordAn old English house standing at the head of the English Catholic nobility. In various branches the family held earldoms of Norfolk, Nottingham, Carlisle, Suffolk, Berkshire, Northampton, Arundel, Wicklow, Norwich, Effingham.
Family founder was Sir William Howard (or Haward) of Norfolk,
who died in 1308.
