She was Henry VIII's fifth queen (m. 1540) after his divorce from Anne of Cleves, she met clandestinely with Dereham and Culpeper, who were executed upon Catherine's confession of prenuptial unchastity.

She was attainted by Parliament and beheaded on conviction for adultery. On the eve of her execution she asked that the execution block be brought to her chamber so that she could rehearse her execution. She is reported to have said in her address from the scaffold "I die a Queen but I would rather die the wife of Culpeper."
