Capt.
Captured by the Indians in the 1704 sack of Deerfield, MA,
and carried off with his father and 3 siblings to Canada,
he and several others managed to escape and made their way back to
Deerfield.
He was captured again (1708) and
again escaped and, in a particularly harrowing adventure
(according to family tradition)
involving a rattlesnake,
returned to his family.
