Appearing in films from 1932 at age 3, she was the box office leader for three straight years: 1936-1938. She was easily the most famous child star of all time.

At the height of the depression, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt is reported to have proclaimed that "as long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right."

She died of natural causes in February, 2014.  -30-
