ROOSEVELT, (Anna) Eleanor [1884-1962] -- American author, diplomat and humanitarian, FLOTUS
Contents: |
FLOTUS
She was a niece of President Theodore Roosevelt ¤ and wife of President Franklin D. Roosevelt ¤, who was also her 5th cousin. Widely admired for her support of liberal causes and humanitarian concerns, she made her residence at Val-Kill, in Hyde Park, after her husband's death.
My sister-in-law, Candace (Sten) Davis, a Hyde Park native recalls, as a child,
being dandled on Mrs. Roosevelt's knee.
