Note on Husband: John Shearwood ROBERTS
John was a graduate of St Andrew's University (MD), Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (London) and Licentiate of The Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh and London). He conducted his practice from Glossop Road, Sheffield and was a surgeon accoucheur at the Royal Hospital, Sheffield. He amassed a large amount of property in Sheffield and other parts of the country. He lived at Dial House, Wadsley from 1856 to 1868. At the ned of his life he lived at Newfield Hall, Sheffield.
John's will left equal shares to his children.
John is buried in the family tomb at All Saints, Ecclesall. The inscription on the top reads "In memory of John Shearwood Roberts M.D. of Newfield Hall elder son of Sidney and Sarah Roberts died March 14 1915 aged 82 years".14,24,47

For a number of years, Ellen lived in London near her eldest son at 434 Camden Road, London and was buried in Highgate Cemetary24
