There is a note in the archives of the Sheffield Town Trustees of AN AGREEMENT TO LET - 31st December 1918 - A Strip of land 12 yards widw in Silver Street, Sheffield - The Trustees of Charles Hoyland and Son Ltd of 14 West Bar Sheffield.
The National Archives in Kew has a document as follows:
"Trade Boards: Correspondence with the Brush and Broom Trade Board concerning the inspection of Charles Hoyland and Sons Limited of Sheffield - 1924". The reference is LAB 2/1609/TBI/A/296/-/Pts I and II.
There is a note in the Bradway Bugle about Brook Hall in Totley: "..... there were a number of tenants including Charles Hoyland, a Brush Manufacturer of Sheffield, and later his son Edward". This probably meant his son Edwin.19
Note on Wife: Louisa Maria BROOKS
Auntie Molly recalls that "Granny Louisa Brooks was lovely, a very pretty old lady."20
