We have evidence to suggest that our Stevens/Stephens line originated from Gloucestershire, England. There is a fascinating bit of history regarding our ancestral home of Chavenage. The link below contains pictures and information from the current owners for those who are interested: http://www.chavenage.com.

If you are looking for information on the Stevens/Stephens line from Johnston County, NC, the Genealogical and Historical Society there has a wealth of information onhand. Do ask about the J.B. Bell book "Stevens and Anderson Kinsmen of American Descendant". It is no longer in print, but the Society will xerox copy relevant pages for you for a small fee. It's well worth the money.

Also of interest is a compilation I received in email from another researcher called "The Descendants of Brigadier General Nicholas Stephens of Seventeenth Century England". Unfortunately, the person who spent so much time on this work did not include their name so I'm unable to give proper credit. If you'd like a copy, I will be glad to email one to you.

I can't thank other researchers enough for their generosity and willingness to share their notes and information. When working on your genealogy, please keep in mind that details on side branches of your family may seem insignificant to you, but please do include them nonetheless. These people were someone's mother, father, child, husband, wife, etc. You never know who might be looking for them or YOU for that matter. *smile*
