Obituary* | 14 June 1922 | The Journal, Summerside, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada; "Citizens of Summerside were shocked this morning (Tuesday) to learn of the death of Mr. William B. Mills, at his home at midnight Monday, of hemorrhage of the brain. The late Mr. Mills had been around as usual on Monday, attending to his regular duties at his store and home, and did not complain of illness until shortly before his death. After he was stricken he lived but a short time. Mr. Mills was a native of Newfoundland, but has spent the larger part of his life in Summerside, and for the past twenty-five years, or thereabouts, he conducted a fancy goods store here. The deceased was 68 years of age. He was a man of quiet manner, industrious habits and one who lead a clean and Christian life. He was kindly and courteous, with a pleasant word for everyone, and he was known and highly respected by all citizens who feel a keen sense of loss in his death. He was very fond of followers and of gardening, and he spent many hours before and after business in his garden, which was one of the finest in the community. He is survived by his widow, formerly Mrs. Green; two daughters. Mrs. LeRoy albert, Syracuse, N. Y. and Miss Ruth Mills, New York City, and two sons, Harry in Edmonton, and Ernest, in Summerside, also two sisters, Mrs. John Pearce, Toronto, and Lousa (sic) Irving, St. John's Nfld. The late Mr. Mills was a prominent member of and a great worker in, the Church of England, and has held offices in that Church, including Warden and Vestryman, and his activities in this was will be greatly missed. To the bereaved family, The Journal extends deepest sympathy."; Witness=Henrietta Helen Green, Witness=Caroline Mills, Witness=Ernest Mills4 |
