7. James2 Beazley (James1) was born August 10, 1760.(79) James died May 18, 1821 in Orange Co., Virginia.(80)

James married Mary Sanford January 14, 1779.(81) Mary was born September 11, 1760 in Orange Co., Virginia.(82) Mary was the daughter of Robert Sanford and Ann Durrett. She died September 16, 1852 in Greene Co., Virginia. Mary applied for a military pension November 4, 1842 in Greene Co., Virginia.(83)

James served in the military between January 29 and March 17, 1776 in Orange Co., Virginia.(84) James Beazley appears in "A roll of Capt. Francis Taylor's Company enlisted between Jany. 29 and March 17, 1776, from a MS. account book and papers in Va. State Library." (Scott's History of Orange County, Virginia).

James Beazley enlisted in the Spotswood 2nd Virginia Reg't's Capt. Francis Taylor's Company in 1776.(85) Mary (Sanford) Beazley stated of James Beazley that "While a resident of Orange County, Virginia, he enlisted in 1776, served in Captain Francis Taylor's Company, Colonel Alexander Spotswood Second Virginia Regiment and was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, length of service two years."

James was listed as a private in the 2nd Virginia Brigade in a muster roll for the period of December 1777-March 1778 in Valley Forge, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania.(86) James Beazley enlisted in the Colonel Drake's Virginia Reg't, Isaac Davis' Company in July 1781.(87) Again from Mary (Sanford) Beazley's pen, "He enlisted in July 1781, served three months in Captain Isaac Davis' Company, Colonel Darke's [sic] Virginia regiment and was in the siege of Yorktown."

He made a will April 13, 1821.(88) James's will was probated August 27, 1821 in Orange Co., Virginia.(89) The estate of James Beazley was appraised on September 15, 1821 in Orange Co., Virginia.(90) Upon James's death, his estate was administered by Sanford Beazley in Orange Co., Virginia on June 14, 1824.(91) The account of Sanford Beazley "mentions paid the heirs of Jacob Paul."

Upon James's death, his estate was administered by James Beazley in Orange Co., Virginia on February 23, 1827.(92) James P. Sims was the guardian of the heirs of Robert Beazley, deceased.

James Beazley and Mary Sanford had the following children:

child + 40 i. John3 Beazley was born August 6, 1780.

child + 41 ii. Sanford Beazley was born March 24, 1783.

child 42 iii. Nancy Beazley was born in Orange Co., Virginia May 11, 1786.(93) It is possible that Nancy Beazley married Tandy Collins. According to Orange County, Virginia marriage records, he married a daughter of James Beazley named Ann. The only known Ann was the daughter of James and Ann Beazley, and her age was not correct. The 1820 census indicates that the wife of Tandy was born in 1775-1785. Nancy is the only daughter that was born in this time period.

child + 43 iv. Elizabeth Beazley was born February 4, 1789.

child + 44 v. Robert Beazley was born May 9, 1791.
