Mrs. A. Hindman Taken By Death

 

Mrs. Annie HINDMAN, 71, died Tuesday afternoon at her home in Owens Cross Roads precinct, after an illness of several days.  The funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock at the residence, with the Revs. P. W. BROWN and E. C. BYRD officiating.  Burial will follow in the Moon Cemetery, Laughlin-Service directing.

 

Surviving are three sons, J. J. HINDMAN, J. E. HINDMAN and C. H. HINDMAN; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Mae LEAT, Guntersville; Mrs. Annie Pearl WILSON, Gadsden; Mrs. Mary BYRD, Blytheville, Ark.; and Mrs. Eula Lee HINDMAN, Owens Cross Roads, and one brother, Byrd LASTER, of Huntsville.

 

Selected as active pallbearers at the funeral are K. M. ELLETT, Robert H. BAKER, Jesse K. WALLS, W. H. HAMER, Charley MILLER and Elton M. McKINNEY.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be R. W. MOON, A. H. ELLETT, J. E. McKINNEY, John C. CARSON, Dr. J. L. CARPENTER, R. W. WALLS, W. W. MAPLES, M. F. MAPLES and J. H. MAPLES.

Eli B. Hindman’s Rites Set Friday

Retired Engineer Died In Nashville, Services Set At Church Of God

 

Eli B. HINDMAN, 86, retired railroad engineer of the city, died yesterday at 11 a.m. in Nashville, following an illness of about two years.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the West Huntsville Church of God on Eighth Avenue, with the Rev. C. M. DAY officiating.  Interment will be in Moon Cemetery near Owens Cross Roads with Spry Funeral Home in charge.

 

Mr. Hindman, a native of Tennessee and a lifelong member of the Decherd Methodist Church, came to Madison County about 38 years ago.  He was a retired Southern Railway engineer.

 

Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. Lillie Mae WRIGHT, Guntersville; Mrs. A. J. BARNETT, Detroit; Mrs. Elbert MARTIN and Mrs. Mary Lou BYRD of Owens Cross Roads; three sons, Jesse HINDMAN, John E. HINDMAN, and Charles H. HINDMAN of Owens Cross Roads; 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers will be James HINDMAN, Walter HINDMAN, Ollie FORD, Gus BUSBEE, Leon MOORE and Ed EDGER.  Honorary pallbearers will be Robert H. BAKER, Robert W. WALLS, E. C. BYRD, R. H. McPETERS, A. H. ELLETT, Robert M. CRAFT, Archie RUSSELL and I. I. GUNN.
