ATHENS – Mrs. Mamie Lorena BRANUM, 92, of Athens died Saturday at a Athens health-care center.  The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with P. E. MAPLES and Ben EDMONDSON officiating.

 

The graveside service will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Moon Cemetery in Owens Cross Roads in Madison County.  Mrs. Branum, a native of Limestone County, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.  She is preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Henry BRANUM.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Catherine LASSETER of Athens and Ann CRAIG of Owens Cross Roads; one son, Franklin BRANUM of Prattville; one stepson, Walter BRANUM of New Hope; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund.

Henry Branum’s Funeral Planned

Was Baptist Minister In Area For 46 Years

Died Today at 4 A.M.

 

Funeral services for the Rev. Henry S. BRANUM, 75, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Galilee Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roy STONE and the Rev. J. Vernon RICH officiating.  Burial will follow at the Moon Cemetery at Owens Cross Roads.

 

Mr. Branum, a Baptist Minister in the North Alabama area for the past 47 years, died today at 4 a.m., at the Fifth Avenue Hospital, after a long illness.  He was last a minister of a church at Guntersville, but had been in semi-retirement for the past 5 years.  He made his home at Route 1, Owens Cross Roads.

 

He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Mamie BRANUM; three sons, Arnold BRANUM of Opelika, Walter BRANUM of Route 1, Owens Cross Roads, and Franklin BRANUM of the U. S. Navy at Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Billie LASSATER of New Hope, and Mrs. Tom CRAIG of Owens Cross Roads; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Additional information concerning the funeral of the Rev. Henry S. BRANUM, slated tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the Galilee Baptist Church, was announced today by Butler Brother’s Funeral Home of New Hope.

 

Pallbearers for the funeral will be J. J. SCHRIMSHER, Hollis MILLER, C. D. BRANUM, Frank DILWORTH, Lone MAPLES and George BLACKBURN.

 

The body will be at the Galilee Church tomorrow from noon until time for the funeral.
