OWENS CROSS ROADS – Mrs. Bettie Lee SMITH, 88, of 2686 Old Highway 431, Owens Cross Roads died Sunday at her residence.  The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy TAYLOR officiating.

 

Burial was to be in Moon Cemetery.  Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Galilee Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Edward SMITH; a son, James T. “Buddy” SMITH of Owens Cross Roads; a daughter, Louise PARSONS; and brother, Ted MAPLES, both of Huntsville; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

OWENS CROSS ROADS – Thomas Edward “Ed” SMITH died Friday at a Huntsville hospital.  The funeral will be today at 1:30 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edwin PARKS officiating.

 

Burial will be in Moon Cemetery with New Hope Funeral Home in charge.  Mr. Smith was a member of the Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ.  He was a lifelong resident of Owens Cross Roads and a retired farmer.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Maples SMITH.

 

Survivors include his wife, Glennis Martin SMITH; two daughters, Louise Smith PARSONS of Huntsville and Mary Ann PARSONS of Owens Cross Roads; four sons, James T. “Buddy” SMITH, Dennis MARTIN and James MARTIN, all of Owens Cross Roads, and Billy MARTIN of Batesville, Ark.; one brother, Alvie SMITH of Anniston; and 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
