A funeral for Mrs. Ora Lee CARPENTER, 68, Owens Cross Roads, will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ with Ralph SAMPLES officiating.  Burial will be in Moon Cemetery.

 

The body will be at the church one hour before the service.  Mrs. Carpenter died at her residence this morning.  A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, she had been an invalid for six years.

 

Survivors include her husband, H. E. CARPENTER; two daughters, Mrs. Lavinia G. BERRY of Huntsville and Mrs. Helen Jean BERRY of Owens Cross Roads; three sons, Harold B. CARPENTER and Max CARPENTER, of Huntsville, and John W. CARPENTER of Birmingham; three sisters, Mrs. G. A. KELLY of Gurley and Mrs. Pauline BLAND and Mrs. Ruby WESTERLAND of Miami; and 13 grandchildren.

 

Active pallbearers will be Thomas KELLY, Paul KELLY, Marvin KELLY, Jack KELLY, Gilbert KELLY and Samuel MAPLES.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James CARPENTER, James M. MAPLES, James SPIVEY, Roy CRAIG, Robert CRAFT, Wilson MANN, Bruce MAPLES, Herbert BROCKWAY and members of the Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ.

 

Butler Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

OWENS CROSS ROADS – Andrew Gordon CARPENTER, 75, Rt. 1, Owens Cross Roads, died Monday 7:30 a.m. at his residence after a sudden illness.

 

A funeral will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ, Paul HOSEA and John CUNNINGHAM officiating.  Burial will be in Moon Cemetery.  Blythe Funeral Home of New Hope is in charge.

 

He was born in Owens Cross Roads, was a farmer and a member of the Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ.

 

Survivors include four sons, Harold B. CARPENTER, Huntsville, J. W. CARPENTER, Birmingham, Max Joe CARPENTER, Chicago, Ill., W. G. CARPENTER, Birmingham; two daughters, Mrs. C. T. BERRY, Owens Cross Roads, Mrs. John BERRY, Huntsville; brother, Harry C. CARPENTER, New Hope; three sisters, Mrs. Tom CHANDLER, Vinemont, Mrs. Mattie TURNER, Hobbs Island, Mrs. Tressye MAPLES, Owens Cross Roads; 13 grandchildren , one great-grandchild.

 

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.  The body will remain at the residence until one hour before the service.
