Harold Carpenter

 

Harold B. CARPENTER, 63, of Huntsville, a longtime Redstone Arsenal employee, died Thursday at Huntsville Hospital.  The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Ralph LANGLEY, Dr. Robert THORTON and Dr. A. H. HOPSON officiating.

 

Burial will be in Moon Cemetery in Owens Cross Roads with Laughlin-Service Funeral Home in charge.

 

Mr. Carpenter, who had worked at Redstone since 1951, was mobilization and emergency operations chief in the Army Missile Command’s Plans, Analysis and Evaluation Directorate.

 

He held a B. S. and A. B. degrees from Jacksonville State College and was a former teacher in the Huntsville public school system.  He had served as first vice president of Redstone Federal Credit Union since 1972 and was a director for 21 years.  He also had held state, national and international posts in credit union organizations.

 

Mr. Carpenter was a member of the First Baptist Church, a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Elks Lodge, and worked in Boy Scout activities.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Arnola CARPENTER; a son, Thomas G. CARPENTER of Huntsville; a sister, Mrs. Lavinia C. BERRY of Huntsville; and two brothers, Max J. CARPENTER of Huntsville and John W. CARPENTER of Birmingham.

 

The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.
