Mrs. Vinnie Ikard Dies At Her Home

Lifelong Resident of Owens Cross Roads Passes After Illness

 

Mrs. Vinnie Hunkapillar IKARD, 69, lifelong resident of Owens Cross Roads, died at 1:10 p.m. yesterday at her home there, after a long illness.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Owens Cross Roads Methodist Church, followed by burial at the Moon Cemetery.  The Rev. STEADMAN and the Rev. Buren ROBERTS will officiate.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clara HONEA and Mrs. Alene CRAFT, both of Owens Cross Roads; four sons, Paul IKARD, Carlton R. IKARD, W. E. IKARD and Wannie E. IKARD all of Huntsville; two brothers, Burt HUNKAPILLAR of Union Grove and Homer R. STEWART of Huntsville; one sister, Mrs. Kate Stewart WOOD of Huntsville; an uncle, James BRAZELTON of Buggs Chapel; 13 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Active pallbearers will be Marvin E. IKARD, Wiley E. HONEA, Carl W. HONEA, William S. CRAFT Jr., M. L. HONEA Jr., and Cecil L. GENTLE.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Moody WALKER, Wade GLOVER, Dr. J. L. CARPENTER, Will CUSHION, Allen MOON, Charlie CLARK and Ned COWAN.

S. W. Ikard Dies Of Heart Attack

 

S. Whitt IKARD, 65, died of a heart attack at 9:45 p.m. yesterday at his home in Owens Cross Roads.

 

Mr. Ikard was a retired farmer.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Cobb IKARD; four sons, Paul IKARD, Carlton IKARD, Eugene IKARD and Wannie IKARD, all of Huntsville; two daughters, Mrs. Noah HONEA and Mrs. Searcy CRAFT, both of Owens Cross Roads; two brothers, Elijah IKARD of Mount Home, Tenn., and J. D. IKARD of Huntsville; three sisters, Mrs. Savana PENNINGTON of Long Island, Ala., Mrs. Edgar BROOKS of Huntsville and Mrs. Harry COWAN of Owens Cross Roads; 12 grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Owens Cross Roads Methodist Church, with the Rev. H. S. BRANUM and the Rev. Mr. PEYTON officiating.  Burial in the Moon Cemetery will be directed by Spry Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers will be Allen MOON, Floyd GLOVER, William GLOVER, Gordon WILLIAMS, Floyd DUSKIN and Will CUSHION.
