Crash Victim’s Rites Tomorrow

Mrs. Stella Walls, 45, Killed In Accident; Three Others Injured

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Stella WALLS, 45, of Owens Cross Roads, who died as the result of injuries received in an automobile collision just inside the city limits on Pulaski Pike yesterday afternoon at 4:30, will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Beirne Avenue Holiness Church.

 

According to city police who investigated, the cause of the accident was the slick pavement.  The Walls car and one driven by Mrs. Mildred PRINCE collided, and both cars were heavily damaged.  No one was injured in the Prince car, but Joe C. WALLS, the husband of the deceased, Paul SIMMONS and a two-year old boy, Harold SIMMONS, were hurt in the Walls vehicle.  All three were taken to the Huntsville hospital in a Laughlin-Service ambulance, and their conditions this morning was reported as fair.

 

The body of Mrs. Walls will be at the home of a son, 521 Kildare Avenue, until time for services tomorrow.  The Rev. W. B. GUFFEY will officiate and interment in Moon Cemetery will be directed by Spry’s Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers will be Marvin STINNETT, John TRIGG, LeRoy DUVALL, Jim MONTGOMERY, Chester EVETT and Marvin GOLDEN.

 

Survivors include the husband; J. C. WALLS, five daughters; Mrs. James SIMMONS of Grant, Mrs. Orville JACKS and Miss Floy WALLS, both of Huntsville, and Misses Virginia WALLS and Opal Nell WALLS, of Owens Cross Roads.

 

Five sons also survive, Willis WALLS, High Top, Ala.; Paul WALLS, Huntsville and Troy WALLS, Roy WALLS, and Billy Ray WALLS of Owens Cross Roads; four sisters; Mrs. H. M. McLAIN and Mrs. Paul SIMMONS, Pascagoula, Miss; Mrs. J. T. BLACK, Scottsboro and Mrs. A. D. MONTGOMERY  of Huntsville; two brothers; J. O. BROWN, Huntsville, and L. E. BROWN, Pascagoula, and the parents, the Rev. and Mrs. P. W. BROWN, Huntsville.

 

The deceased was a member of the Holiness Church.

Joe Walls

 

Joe Clemons WALLS, 81, of Route 1, Owens Cross Roads, died Saturday at a local nursing home.  The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Big Cove Holiness Church.

 

Burial will be in Moon Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home in charge.  The Rev. Paul STONE and the Rev. Jack DENSON will officiate.

 

Mr. Walls was a member of the Cave Springs Holiness Church.

 

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Daisy SIMMONS of Hazel Green, Mrs. Katherine JACKS, Mrs. Opel McGRADY, Mrs. Stella STEAKLEY and Miss Loretta WALLS, all of Huntsville, Mrs. Floy HINDMAN and Mrs. Virginia PINKERTON of Owens Cross Roads; seven sons, E. W. WALLS, Roy WALLS and Maurice WALLS, all of Huntsville, Paul WALLS of New Market, Troy WALLS of Riverton, Billy Ray WALLS of Atlanta, Ga., and Wayne WALLS of Owens Cross Roads; a sister, Mrs. Katie DRAKE of Owens Cross Roads, 35 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
