Benjamin K. Glover was born about 1785 in Elbert? County, Georgia. He died in February 1841, Madison County, Alabama. Benjamin K. is believed to be the nephew of Benjamin Glover, Rev. Soldier, and because of the land records, he is thought to be a son of James Glover (d. 1815) and brother to Richard Glover.

Only one record of Benjamin K. Glover was found in Franklin County, GA.

Deed dated 21 Sept. 1812, recorded 6 May 1814: From Allen Harris of Franklin County to Thomas Wilkins of aforesaid. In consideration of $80, conveys 40 acres in Franklin County, being part of 200 acres surveyed for John Stonecypher 20 Sept. 1790, on waters of Gum Log Creek, adj. William Thompson and land where said Wilkins now lives. Witness: John Bowman, BENJAMIN K. GLOVER (X). Sworn to by Bowman before R. D. Gray, J. P. 14 Aug. 1813.

25 March 1814, Benjamin K. Glover married in Madison County, Barshaby (spelled several ways in records) Clements. Barshaby Clements was born in 1800 in Georgia.

Benjamin K. Glover died leaving no will in February 1841, and Edward H. Vann was appointed Administrator of the estate on 15 Mar. 1841. James Glover, Everet Nichols, and Bersheba Glover were Vann's sureties. The Probate Record number is #406, Estate of Benjamin K. Glover, Deceased.

The exact date of death of Benjamin K. is not known. A bill from Charles Stewart dated 24 April 1842 gives the date, but it cannot be read. See attached copy, which is as follows:

Glover, dec’d, the sum of ten dollars that hath been by me adjudged to Burgess McGaha guardian for John M Green lunatic on the 16 day of July 1842. Also the sum of two dollars six and a forth cents cost of suit and a due return make to me in thirty days given under my hand and seal this the 17 day of July 1842 /s/ James H Poor JP (Seal)."

Attached to this is a statement, 14 Sept 1842 sworn to by Edward H Vann (JP) "Benjamin K. Glover Estate, To Everett Nichols to money paid for him to John M. Green in 1838 ten Dollars --- $10.00, to filling (this could be pulling or fixing) wagon wheel in July 1840 $3.50---$13.50."

Everett Nichols appeared before Edward H. Vann as a Justice of the Peace and "after being duly sworn deposit and saith that the above account of thirteen Dollars and 50 cents against B. K. Glover Dec’d are just and true after giving all just credits."

Receipt by Evert Nichols, 14 Sept. 1842, of $13.50, and remainder of execution was paid by Edward H. Vann, in full, on 2 Nov. 1848, as Administrator of the estate.

Another note regarding Petition for Dower, dated 2 Feb. 1842.

Five freeholders were summoned. Land involved was part of the NEĽ, S11 T5 R1E, 135 acres, and the N˝ of SE1/4, same, 80 acres. It was stated that on the 17th of Jan. 1842, Edward H. Vann lived here, and this included the cabins. Edward H. Vann signed as JP. Children named same as above.

Between William Moore and Barshaba Glover, widow of Benjamin Glover with Joseph Pickens, her trustee.

William and Barshaba are about to marry. She owns and possesses real and personal property in Madison County. William Moore and Barshaba agree that her entire estate "remain bonifidally and wholly and separately" from William's control. The intended marriage is not to confer upon William any right or interest whatever unto any part of the estate. Therefore, Barshaba Glover deeds to the land on which she now lives; also two horses and colts, 10 head cattle, all beds, bedsteads and furniture, hogs, sheep, and stock of every kind she now owns; also all household and kitchen furniture which she has not named but which she owns. Barshaba has full authority to dispose of said property by will as she thinks best, free from the control of Moore.

Note: William Moore and Barsheba Glover both signed names with an "X".

Witness: Jno. B. Eldridge and Richd. B. Purdom.

Both Moore and Barshaba acknowledged the above document on 31 Aug. 1842.

14 July 1851, Estate of Benjamin K. Glover, Sale of Property, Edward H. Vann, Administrator. Sale of property total $4,115.35. Silas M. Glover signed as JP. Among the buyers: Edward H. Vann bought "old irons for $.25 and cutting bot for 1.56 1/4." Silas M. Glover bought "1 pare of plow gares (gears) $2.00." Jesse Vann bought "5 brls corn, 11.12˝".

According to the list of heirs on the following page, Wiley Glover and Sarah Glover had died before 14 July 1851.

The first entry was dated 14 Oct. 1854 and stated that $45.50 plus $9.00 interest was received from "Thomas M. Mosely, Admr. of James Thomas, deceased."

Evidently, each heir was to receive $65.95 as an equal share of the estate. Debts against the estate are not listed here.

Deed Book Z, p. 118-119, contains copies of the two deeds to James Glover and Isaac S. Ellett from Edward H. Vann, Administrator of Estate of Benjamin K. Glover, dated 11 February 1853. These deeds, written in a very fine script, are difficult read but contain the same information given heretofore. These documents were approved by John W. Otey, Judge of the Probate Court, and were duly recorded the same day, 11 Feb. 1853.

There is no probate record in Madison County, AL, for Bersheba Glover Moore, and it is not known where or when she died. Benjamin K. Glover is probably buried in the old section of the Vann-Green Valley Cemetery on the old Big Cove Road.
