Death of Harry F. Christian

The many friends of Mr. Harry F. Christian, will regret to learn of his death, which sad event occurred on the night of the 15th instant, at his residence, near Owens Cross Roads, in this county. He had been suffering for a year or more with diabetes, of which disease he died.  Mr. Christian was a gentleman of many noble qualities, a warm hearted, generous, unselfish man, a true friend and good neighbor. He was a member of the first company, the Madison Rifles, that left this county to engage in the late war, and filled the post of Orderly Sergeant during the term of their enlistment. He was afterwards the adjutant of the 4th Alabama Cavalry, and won for himself the character of a true and brave soldier. He was about 38 years of age and leaves a wife to mourn him. We tender to her a friend’s sympathy.

[Note:]  Harry F. Christian married Virginia W. Coles September 7, 1875 in Madison County, Alabama.
