JAMES GLOVER, SENIOR

Born: ca 1751 Maryland

Died: About June 1815, Madison County, Mississippi Territory

Married: Nancy* ??

* It is recorded that a JAMES GLOVER married Hannah King 28 May 1782 in Wilkes County, NC. Unproved that this is that James Glover. In 1804 James Glover was a witness to a land sale by Joseph King to William Phelps so there could be a connection here to the KING family.

James Glover is believed to be a brother of Benjamin, William and John Glover. Date and place of birth are not known. He died in Madison County, M.T., around 1815. On the 1815 Tax List Madison County, Mississippi Territory, it states "JAMES GLOVER’S ESTATE". The names of children of James Glover are not known.

James Glover, Assignee, 159.40 acres, Section 11 T5 R1E.

(Land adjacent to and east of Benjamin Glover's quarter section).

Note: There is no record of James Glover's disposing of this land (minus 30 acres sold to John Glover in 1814). However, when Benjamin K. Glover died, this land was included in his estate and was sold on 11 Feb. 1853, to Isaac Ellett. This is one clue that leads to the belief that Benjamin K. Glover was a son of James Glover.

4 Nov 1814:

James Glover of Madison County, M.T., sold to John Glover of Giles County, Tennessee, for $120.00, thirty (30) acres on south end of quarter section on which the said James Glover now resides.
