His grave was being dug on that day by his sister Elizabeth (Hill) Walden, when General Sherman came marching through with his troops. Because of so many bullets flying through the air around the cemetary, Sherman had some of his own men fishing digging the grave for her. Since the battle was moving closer to the cemetary, the soldiers buried him on his own land nearby.
