Samuel Dyer was born before Dec. 20, 1635 (his baptism date), in Boston, Suffolk, MA, the son of William and Mary Barrett Dyer. Some family trees incorrectly state his baptism date as Oct. 20, 1635. The record states "20 day 10 mo [Dec 20] 1635 " in the First Church of Boston. In 1635 the 10 mo referred to Dec. He removed from Boston to Newport, RI, and then to Kingstown, RI.
On March 22, 1661, Samuel Dyer signed certain articles relative to Misquamicut (Westerly) lands. On May 21, 1669, he was made Conservator of the Peace at Kingstown, RI. He took oath of allegiance to Rhode Island on May 20, 1671. His wife had a legacy of lands in Narragansettt from will of her father in 1676.
Samuel Dyer married Anne Hutchinson about 1660 in Boston, MA. She was daughter of Edward Hutchinson and Catherine Hamby Hutchinson. Samuel Dyer died at Kingstown, RI, about 1678.
