Obituary, John R. Cole, 73 well-known resident of Belvidere, was found dead in bed at his home, 166 Adams Street, Belvidere, this morning. He had been in poor health for about a year, but retired last evening in apparently fair health. When a son called him this morning, he discovered that Mr. Cole had passed away.
He was a retired street commissioner of Belvidere, having retired from active work about a year ago, after having served for 12 years. He was a member of the Junior Mechanics of Belvidere and the Red Men at Roxburg.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Peter Cowell, Belvidere and Mrs. Samuel Graham, New York City: four sons, Lewis, Morris, Bartley and Frederick Cole, all of Belvidere; two brothers, Siren Cole, Battle Creek, Mich, and Daniel Cole, Detroit, Mich: by 31 gradchildren and eight great-grandchildren.4,5 He was buried in 1933 at Hazen Cemetery, Oxford Township, Warren County, New Jersey.6
