Christian Cole
Christian Cole and wife were early settlers and of German extraction, having located, on their arrival, upon a farm on Scott's Mountain now occupied by John Rinehart, where Mr. Cole resided during his lifetime. He had three sons and one daughter. One of the sons, Christian, inherited the property upon which he resided until his death. He had a family of six sons --John Stauffle, William, Samuel, James and Jacob - and four daughters -Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary and Catherine. Of these children, Samuel, the youngest, purchased the homestead and remained as the only representative of the family in the township. Others removed to the West or settled in Washington and Oxford townships.
