Christian Cole and wife were early settlers and of German extraction, having located, on their arrival, upon a farm on Scott's Mountain now occupied by John Rinehart, where Mr. Cole resided during his lifetime. He had three sons and one daughter. One of the sons, Christian, inherited the property upon which he resided until his death. He had a family of six sons --John Stauffle, William, Samuel, James and Jacob - and four daughters -Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary and Catherine. Of these children, Samuel, the youngest, purchased the homestead and remained as the only representative of the family in the township. Others removed to the West or settled in Washington and Oxford townships.

Christian (Crest) COLE names his wife Mary, two nephews Crest and Paul Jr., and his children: Peter, William, Phillip, Crest (Christian), Paul,Catherine, Mary & Elizabeth. Wife Mary to have use of real property and bring up small children. Son Crest to stay two years with his mother. Executors Crest & Paul Cool, Jr. (nephews). Inventory: 176 shillings.
Abstract of Deed, 14 Apr 1755, Christian KOUL, blacksmith, to Richard Chamberlain, both of Amwell, Hunterdon Co. In the 29th year of reign of our Sovereign Lord, George II King of Great Britain, for 300 pounds, two tracts in Amwell: 1st property bounded by corner of Richard HAINES, along Valentine ERDT's line, along Peter FISCHER's, containing 105 acres. It being the same which Christian KOUL bought 9 Mar 1753 from Barnabas ACKENBACK. 2nd property bounded by Ralph HUNT's fence, Peter PHILLIP's land, etc., containing 15 acres. It being the same as Christian KOUL bought from Barnabas ACKENBACK, who got it from Jonathan STOUT of Amwell in 1748. Ref. Deed Book U,pg.78, Trenton. Christian COLE (II) also bought 170 acres in Amwell from Henry HUFFMAN 12 May 1755, part of a large tract called Mt.
