Janie Manus Deese Obituary

Death of Mrs. P H Deese

Death of Mrs. P H Deese
Many hearts were saddened when the death angel entered the home of Mr Parse
Deese of near Wesley Chapel, February 14, just as sunset and carried away the
loving wife and mother.
Mrs. Deese was before her marriage Miss Janie Lee Manus, only daughter of the
late Manfred Manus of Union County. She would have been 34 years of age if she
had lived until April 15. She was united in marriage to P H Deese about 15 years
ago and throughout this time proved a very loyal and faithful wife and mother.
Death was caused by double pneumonia with which she had suffered about a week.
Besides her husband she leave to mourn her loss seven children, Winnie Faye, P H
Jr, Beulah, Raeford, Rufus Winfred and Harris. Five brothers John and Frank
Manus of Mint Hill, Carl and Bradley Manus of Charlotte and Harry Manus of
Marshville and a host of friends and relatives.
She joined the Antioch Methodist church in early girlhood and remained a
devoted Christian throughout her life. To know her was to love her.
I knew her as a kind, hard working woman, always ready to give a cheerful word
and to lend a helping hand. I always delighted in going to her house to spend
the night for I could always plan on a good time. Although she lost one hand
about 10 years ago, she continued to devote her time to her family and to give
them the very best she had.
Funeral service was conducted Saturday the 18th , at 3 oclock at the Weddington
by Rev Q N Huneycutt of Indian Trail and Rev Mr Huggins. The remains were laid
to rest in the Weddington Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hurley, Marvin, Arnold,
Lewie, Walter and Cleburn Killough nephews of the deceased.
A niece Mrs Martha Clontz
