Misses Hattie Wall Bryabt of Laurinburg and Mary Hull of Shelby are visiting Miss Ruth Russell



Mr. W. A. Howie of Mineral Springs has opened a garage in Monroe. He has not moved his family to Monroe but may do so later.



John Austin the nine year old son of M E H Austin, while playing yesterday fell and broke his arm. He was running with a companion.



Miss Sadie O'Connell and Miss Carried O'Connell of Charlotte spent Sunday with Misses Annie

and Kathleen Nelson.



Mr F A Sloan, a popular prescriptionist at the Union Drug Cp leaves tonight to enjoy his vacation at Wrightsville Beach.



Mrs C F Cadieu, who is in the Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, for treatment was operated on Wednesday and is improving nicely.



Mrs A J Boyte was carried to Chartlotte Sunday to the Presbyterian hospital, where she will be operated on in a few days when she becomes strong enough.



M A M Burns and sons, who with Mrs Burns, had been visting Mrs E C Winchester , have returned to their home at Roxboro, Mrs Burns is yet with Mrs. Winchester.



Messrs. J R Welch C C Furr, A G Braswell and C E Hill, of Oakboro came over in a car Sunday

afternoon. They broke down within a few miles of Monroe and had to give the sigh of distress and be hauled in.



Dr Whitley of Unionville holds the record for careful driver of an automobile he has run a Ford car 3,500 miles over all kinds of roads and has spent but one dollar for actual repairs.



Mrs W J Trull had a painful accident to befall him yesterday morning while running into a wood saw the saw taking hold a loose piece of wood jerked his hand and gave it a severe cut which required fifteeen stiches to sew up. 



Miss Josephine Mullen of Lincolnton has returned home after spending a month with Mrs W S

Baskerville.  Miss Grace Baskerville of Charlotte and Miss Mary Covington of Laurinburg
