John Cuffman/DeMerchant and Mary ????. They married in 1792 in Fredericton NB. They had 7 children listed below.

(1) John DeMerchant Jr b. 1792 m. Levina Jinson/Ginson

They married March 1, 1815 at the British Military Post, Presque Isle NB.

According to John DeMerchants tombstone his birth year was 1780 or 87 years old in 1867. This is hard to believe considering in the two census returns taken before his death he was listed as 63 in 1851 and 73 in 1861. Birth date Circa 1788. In a August, 1814 land grant petiton John Jr states he is a "married man aged twenty two years." If you notice above I state that Jr. was married March 1, 1815. He probably was married at this time but not legally and considering he had no reason to lie about his age being younger, I feel his true birth date is 1792. Remember he is a young man in 1814 and it is by his admission he is 22, not a census taker or bereaved child or grandchild.
They had 8 children.
