11. Alexander Harrison³ Dennis (James Frances², Andrew¹)⁽⁷⁾ was born January 12, 1829. Alexander died 07 Dec 1890 in Montgomery County, N.C., at 61 years of age.⁽⁸⁾

He married Jane Ella Smart. Jane was born September 1, 1830. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Wilson Smart and Darutha Annie Harper. Jane died 27 Jul 1901 in Montgomery County, N.C..(9) Thomas C. Lapish (293 Moore Dr, nw, Concord, N.C. 28025) gave us the information about Jimmie Frances Dennis & Polly Morgan's children. Tom Lapish's grandfather was George Washington Dennis. George & Alexander were brothers and they married sisters, Martha Frances Smart and Jane Ella Smart.

Alexander served in the Confederate Army but was never in a battle, according to Jewel Dennis Gallaway.

Alexander Harrison Dennis and Jane Ella Smart had the following children:

52 vii. Mary Magdalene "Sis" Dennis. She married twice. She married Colin Hunsucker. She married Nathaniel Brown.

53 viii. William G. Dennis. He married twice. He married Elizabeth Pernall. He married Sally Singleton.

54 ix. Matthew Josia "Tode" Dennis.

+ 55 x. Elisha Abraham Dennis was born December 9, 1858.
