| 1910--The Fathers of the Society of Jesus, better known as the Jesuit
Fathers, founded the Detroit College in 1877. It was incorporated in 1881 according to the
General Law of the State of Michigan. The educational system is substantially that of the
universities and colleges conducted by the Society of Jesus throughout the world. The Detroit College comprises the following departments: The College, the Classical High School, and the English High School. The College Course is classical, and is designed to impart a thorough liberal education. Experience has shown that this course, in which the Ancient Classics hold a prominent place as the most efficient instrument of mental discipline, is of the highest excellence. It develops all the faculties, forms a correct t?, teaches the student how to use all his powers to the greatest advantage, while preparing him for any pursuit in after-life. This course, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts, embrace a period of four years. The Library of the College contains a copious collection of choice books. The College buildings are conveniently located on Jefferson Avenue, almost in the heart of the city. The faculty consists of able professors and teachers. Rev. Richard D.
