| 1910--Assumption College was established on the Canadian bank of the
Detroit river by the Basilian Fathers in 1870. During the forty years of its existence
this boarding school for young men and boys has expanded in a wonderful way. The number of
students has steadily increased; new buildings have sprung up at short intervals and year
by year new equipment has been installed. Today the college stands in its appointments one
of the completest in the country. The curriculum of Assumption College offers a splendid education. There are four departments in the school: 1st. The College department, giving university learning in Religious Knowledge, English, History, Latin, Greek, French, German, Mathematics and Science. 2nd. The High School department, in which the student in the four-year course is fitted for admission to the College department or to Canadian or American universities and colleges of law, medicine, engineering etc. 3rd. The Commercial department, which offers a thorough course in business, shorthand, typewriting etc. 4th. The Preparatory department, into which are admitted pupils who have attained fifth grade standing or higher. Athletics receive due attention. The faculty encourages every good form of outdoor and indoor game and exercise. The rates for both boarding students and day pupils are very moderate. As for catalog. |
