Dodds, 58, of Fort Smith, Ark., died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday in the Veterans Hospital at San Diego, CA. Mr. Dodds was a former resident of Bonaparte. He was born in Van Buren county on Feb. 4, 1910. the son of Harry John Dodds and Minnie M. Morrison Dodds. He was first married to Eleanor Evelyn who passed away a year after they were married. He then married Violet Crocker. To this union were born 3 daughters. Dorothy Aileen Dodds Kerr, Gloria Jean Dodds, and Kathryn Elaine Dodds. Ruby and Ken divorced in 1949. He then married Irene Vernac in 1951. Mr. Dodds was a retired Navy career man and had been a teacher at State College, Fort Smith, Ark, until December 1967. Besides his wife surviving are his mother, Mrs. Minnie Dodds of Bonaparte, one son Kenneth Charles, at home; three daughters, Mrs William (Dorothy Aileen ) Kerr, Jr., Bonaparte, Miss Gloria Jean Dodds. Los Angeles, Calif., Miss Kathy Elaine Dodds, Baldwin Park, Calif., one stepdaughter, Mrs. James (Charlene) Perry, Imperial Beach, Calif; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Mosier, Kearney, Neb., Mrs. Francis Starr, Clinton, Iowa; six grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Funeral services and burial well be held in California.

Dodds - Ward Kenneth M. Dodds and Miss Evelyn Ward, were united in marriage on Sunday, Feb 15, 1931, at the home of the bride's parents in Los Angeles, Calif., and will make their home in Long Beach Calif. where Mr. Dodds has employment with the United Vacuum Cleaner company. Mr Dodds is a son of Mr and Mrs. Harry Dodds of Bonaparte, Iowa. In 1927, or more than three years ago he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and for several months was in the Great Lakes Naval Training School near Chicago as a mechanic in the aviation department. He was transferred to the west coast about three years ago and during the past year has been stationed at San Diego until his term of enlistment expired. His many Van Buren county friends extend congratulations.

Twin to brother William. Obit for Mrs. Kenneth M. Dodds. Eleanor Evelyn, younger daughter of Mr. and Mr. P.A. Ward, was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Williams, Arizona, and departed this life at the Jefferson County hospital in Fairfiled, Iowa, on Monday afternoon, May 30th 1932, being at the time of her death 19 years, 7 months and 8 days of age. While quite young she moved with her parents to California and there grew to young womanhood.. On Feb 15, 1931, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Morrison Dodds, who remains to mourn her untimely decease. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Ward, a twin brother, William, and older brother Adelbert, and one sister, Mrs Mildred Senep, all living in or near Los Angeles, Mr., and Mrs H. J. Dodds of Bonaparte, to whom she has endeared herself as a daughter, and Kenneth's sisters Hillys and Elnore Dodds, besides many other relatives and friends, both in California and Iowa. In June of 1931 the young couple came to Harrisburg, Iowa, and here they spent a brief but happy married life until failing health necessitated her removal to the Jefferson County hospital on May 14th. All that medical skill and loving hands could do was of no avail and the brave, hopeful Spirit was called to her Maker. As a girl Evelyn had attended the Methodist Sunday School and Church and in this Christian environment good seed was sown which bore fruit in the sweetness of character which won the love of those with whom she was associated. Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the Harrisburg church, Rev. D. D. Flanagan officiating. Internment in Vale cemetery.

Elwood Pascal Ward, age 66 yrs and 8 months died at 6:30 Sat evening at his home 2 3/4 miles northwest of Berwick. The deceased moved to this vicinity only a few months ago occupying the house of the Allen Herrmann place where he died. He was a native of Ohio, having been born at Ammica. He leaves a wife, and three sons, and two daughters, as follows: D.E. Ward who is employed at Charley McKim's; also Mrs Earl Thomas of near Bern; Mrs Grace Potter of Moray KS; Fred Ward of Mankato Minn; Ernest Ward of Peabody, the former home of the deceased. Dr Paugh conducted a brief service at the home at 1:30 Monday after noon. Mrs Howard Lines and Mrs Metz sang. The body was taken to Peabody and at 2 PM Tuesday funeral services were held there. Mr Ward had been ill since he came to Sabetha.

Anna Bell Heath was born at Lawrenceville Ill 11 Apr 1853 and died at the home of her daughter Mrs Martha Murry, in Peabody, Kansas 19 Feb 1922. She came to Kansas in 1874 and has since made her home in or near Peabody. She married to Elwood Ward 28 Feb 1878 at Peabody and to this union six children were born, five of whom survive her: Fred H. of Souix City SD; Dwight E, and Earnest E. of Peabody; Mrs Grace Porter of Troy KS and Mrs Martha Murray of Peabody. Her life was largely spent in helping and administering to others, even up to the time of her last sickness, less than a week before her death. Her husband died in Apr 1916. She leaves to mourn her death beside her children several grandchildren and host of relatives and friends. The funeral was held at the Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Rev W.A. Holliday officiated and internment was at Prarie Lawn Cemetery.
