EMMA (FOWLER) HOLT


Heart Attack Fatal To Mrs. Holt


MRS. EMMA FOWLER HOLT, widow of the late Ed Holt, founder of the Harley Holt Furniture Co., died at 5 a.m. today in Albuquerque, N.M.

Mrs. Holt was en route to Nashville after visiting relatives in California. She suffered a heart attack Sunday and was taken to Presbyterian Hospital where she died.

The body will be shipped to Nashville Friday morning where it will be received by the Marshall-Fennelly-Combs Funeral Home.

The daughter of the late Rev. Samuel F. and Jane (Belyea) Fowler, she was born June 9, 1874 in Green County, Pa. She was married to the late Norborne Alexander in 1897. Mr. Alexander died in Bowling Green, Ky., in 1898.

She was married to Edwin Lee Holt in 1900. Mr. Holt, who founded the furniture firm at 317 Broadway 45 years ago, died in 1938.

Mrs. Holt attended college in Bowling Green and was receptionist at her husband's store. She was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church, the Womens Fellowship of the church, Claiborne Chapter 144 of the Order of Eastern Star, Friendship Council Number Nine Daughters of America and organized the Waverly Garden Club.

Survivors include two sons, Tom, Nashville, and Chester Holt, Pasadena, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Carlton Blessing, Nashville; a sister, Mrs. C.E. Witt, Nashville, and George Fowler, Glendale, Calif.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
