Frank and Anna Nelson Family

Frank Oscar NELSON,¹ ² ³ ⁴ son of Nils Johan CARLSSON and Christina Maria Carlsdotter KRANS, was born on 19 Oct 1864 in Moshult, Okna, Jonkoping, Sweden,^⁵ died on 1 May 1950 in Jamestown, NY ^⁶ at age 85, and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of his death was Myocarditis and Prostate Cancer.

General Notes: Frank Oscar was a farmhand in Sweden and he emigrated to America in April 1888 from Locknevi Parish Sweden and his destination was listed as Chicago. However he settled in Sheffield, PA and became a lumberman. He was naturalized in Warren, PA in 1891 and lived in Ludlow, PA until 1901 when he moved to Jamestown and was a foreman for the Atlas Furniture Co. He was an avid gardener and his back yard was a small farm and orchard. He was a member of the Zion Mission Covenant Church.

Frank married Anna Olivia ENGMAN,⁷ daughter of Anders Gustaf ENGMAN and Carolina Josefina NILSDOTTER, on 3 Jul 1895 in Jamestown, NY. Anna was born on 22 Dec 1869 in Tofverum, Locknevi, Kalmar, Sweden,^⁶ died on 7 Feb 1949 in Jamestown, NY ^⁸ at age 79, and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of her death was Cancer of the Signoid. They had three children: Edwin Julian, Clifford Oscar, and Ardis Evelyn Olive.

Edwin Julian NELSON ⁹ was born on 7 Apr 1897 in Ludlow, PA,^⁶ died on 23 Nov 1940 in Stelton, NJ ^¹⁰ at age 43, and was buried in Andover Cem. Andover, NJ. The cause of his death was Brain Tumor.

General Notes: Edwin was a confirmand of the Swedish Mission Covenant Church in 1910. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1914 where he was a star on the football team. He also was a graduate of Syracuse University and also played football for Syracuse and was a member of Eta Chapter, Alpha Zeta Fraternity.He was in the Army Air Force in World War l. He later settled in Stelton, NJ where he was in the textile business.

Edwin married Caroline POLLARD. Caroline was born on 23 Dec 1901 in Andover, NJ, died on 8 Sep 1980 in Edison, NJ ^¹¹ at age 78, and was buried in Andover Cem. Andover, NJ. They had one son: John Edwin.

Clifford Oscar NELSON was born on 24 Dec 1901 in Jamestown, NY,^¹⁰ died on 6 Dec 1983 in Hollywood, FL ^¹¹ at age 81, and was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Fort Lauderdale, FL.

General Notes: Clifford served in the U.S.Army in World War l and in the German occupation. He operated automobile service stations in Rockford, IL, Cincinnati, OH, and Hollywood, FL.

Clifford married Effie W. WEESE, daughter of Briden WEESE and Estella SEXSMITH. Effie was born on 9 Mar 1909 in Canada, died on 19 Dec 1984 in Hollywood, FL ^¹¹ at age 75, and was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Fort Lauderdale, FL. They had two children: Alvin Hugh Bond and Briden Frank.

Ardis Evelyn Olive NELSON ¹² was born on 24 Nov 1908 in Jamestown, NY,^¹³ died on 25 May 1994 in Girard, OH ^⁵ at age 85, and was buried in Belmont Park Cemetery, Girard, OH. The cause of her death was Alzheimers Disease and Pneumonia.

General Notes: Ardis was born in Jamestown New York and attended the public schools. She was baptized and was a confirmand of the Zion Mission Covenant Church in Jamestown, NY and she was a graduate of Nursing School in White Plains, NY. Most of her life she was a home maker, but during the World War ll she worked at the General Fireproofing Co. in Youngstown, OH where airplanes were manufactured.

Ardis married Viking Raymond JOHNSON,¹² son of Alfred Johan JOHNSON and Johanna "Jennie" JOHNSON, on 9 Jun 1928 in Jamestown, NY. Viking was born on 5 Mar 1903 in Scandia, PA,^¹⁴ died on 20 Feb 1989 in Girard, OH ^¹⁰ at age 85, and was buried in Belmont Park Cemetery, Girard, OH. The cause of his death was Cardiac Arrest and Coronary Artery Disease. They had two children: Donald Raymond and Frederick Gordon.
