My great grandmother Annie Irene Emerick , (b.Dec1847 or 1858) came from a large family, all of whom died before she did in 1934. The only siblings I have any information on is Margaret Jane Emerick (b.2 Sept. 1865) in Centre Hall, Centre Co., PA. The parents of these 2 women were: Mary or Margaret Hess (b. 1843) Centre Co., Pa. and John James Emerick (b. 1839) Centre Co., PA. Annie's obit states she was a direct descendent of the Emerick family involved in the Emerick/Astor dispute. I have reason to believe that John and Mary moved to Butler County, Pa. and may have died there. I cannot find an obit for them in Centre Co. Primarily I am interested in finding the other siblings of Annie, hopefully there were some boys who carried on the family name and legend.

Two of us in Canada are interested in the life and career of Col. Andreas Emmerich who fought on the British side. Evidently he came from Europe as a volunteer, a soldier of fortune, who conceived the idea of raising soldiers from among Germanic settlers, e.g. Penn., N.Y. and New England. Later his troops were split up and allotted to other officers units. He returned to Europe, petitioning for compensation for his services and expenses. I am interested in his genealogy from the point of view of whether he came from an armigerous family - (heraldry is my hobby). My aquaintance is a Loyalist librarian, and is interested in his role as leader of Loyalist soldiers. - John Ruch

Thank you for letting me know ( about the Emmerich page). I told my grandmother, who was very happy to see work being done on the family tree.
According to page 604 of the Compendium of American Genealogy, Christopher came over with eight children, his two brothers, and that his wife died at sea.
There was also an Andreas Emerich on the same ship, the Charming Molly.
The family tree (Christopher) you have listed for him may be his children from the second marriage, as he was 50 years old when the first child was born. Otherwise, they might be the children of one of his eight that came over with him.

I was given the family tree by my late great-uncle, William Emerich. He takes our branch back through to Christopher Emerich via John Emerich, born July 12, 1798, son of John Emerich, Sr.,
born July 12, 1760, who was the son of Christopher Emerich, the brother of John Nicholas Emerich.
If my uncle was wrong, or if any one knows what happened to the eight children, please let me know.

When comparing the family trees, my branch would join Christoff's at 121255000 with Johannes Emerich and Barbara Daniels. This concurs with a copy of an Emerich family tree I was sent that was written by Kenneth D. Haines. This issue has been a bone of contention with my grandmother. She remembers the family meetings held throughout Pennsylvania regarding the infamous will. She strongly believes that there is an error in these trees, that the family tree investigated by my great-uncle, her brother, is the accurate one. My uncle's version lists the father of Johannes as John Sr., son of Christopher Emerich. - Myley Moyer
