My grandmothers name (I believe) is Christann Emerick (Christian, maybe). She was married to Ruben Giberson. She was born about 1820 and died 19Sep1894 in Philadelphia. If anyone has any info on her or Ruben I would appreciate it if you could let me know! Thanks! - Tiffany Funn

The information about the name Emerick, etc., is fascinating. My 2nd Great Grandfather was George R. Emerick, from Illinois or Indiana. He married Mary Wallace in Santa Rosa, CA, in 1863. Their children were: George Edward, William Henry, Anna Eliza Jane, David Franklin, Laura Francis, Warren Reynold, and Charles Wilbur.
Their daughter Annie Eliza Jane married John Emery FOUTS. My dad, brother, and nephew carry the middle name Emery as well.
I haven't found my family in the charts but the lawsuit story has run in my family for a long time. If you have any information on this family or know of someone who is researching this family, I would really appreciate the information. - Thanks, Caren

My great grandmother was Julia (Juliann?) Emmerich of Villingen; b.07Sep1839. She came to USA in early 1850s and married Johann Adam Hoflich of Viernheim (before or after emigration?). She died in Limestone, New York probably in 1882 I have a note from her brother/uncle(?), Johann Wilhelm Emmerich, apparently in Essen at the time. When I was in Viernheim, researching the Hoflich name, I was told to contact the Evangelisches Pfarramt, Villingen,(Kreis Giessen) = 6303 Hungen to find more information on the Emmerichs. I'm sorry to be so vague but I have not worked on that name yet. Please let me know if she fits somewhere. I hope my small bit of data helps someone. - Ed Wilber

I am researching the Henry Hommer family.
Heinrich "JOHN HENRY" Hommer was born in Koblenz, Germany in 1839 to Mathias and Maria Katharina Muller Hommer. In some papers that Henry had was a letter he had written to Germany in 1857 regarding the Emmerich estate. Henry died in 1891 and according to family history (see letter) passed down, needed his parent's marriage certificate to prove he had any claim to some of the inheritance. He had no means to travel to Germany and pursue this. I was just wondering if anyone knows the Hommer connection to the Emmerich family in order to add to my family tree.
Thanks! - Lynnette Davis
21Jun1998 - James R. Powell, Jr.
My Great Grandfather Benjamin Powell (1835 - 1906) was born in Beaver, PA, presumably New Sewickley Twp. His parents were Jacob Powell (1806 - 1893) and Lydia Emerick (1810 - 1851). Lydia's parents were John Jacob Emerick (1768 - 1851) and Maria Eve Cable [possibly Koble] (1772 - 1844). Jacob and Lydia Powell as well as John and Maria Emerick are buried at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, in Cranberry Twp, Butler Co, PA.
John Jacob Emerick's parents were Valentine Emerick (1730 - 1814) and his second wife Catherine Short [Schott] (1745 - ?). I believe that Valentine and Catherine Emerick as well as son John Jacob were born in Dorrenbach, Germany. I do not know where Valentine and Catherine Emerick are buried. Further, I have no idea what the circumstances were that brought the Emerick's from Germany to Beaver Co., PA.

My Emrich is Henry J. (Jerry, I think). The first I know of him is the fact that he had a hay business in Aryshire, Iowa about 1884. According to the 1920 Census he was born in Germany January 2, 1868 and naturalized in 1872/73. We had always been told that he was from New York, so that leads me to believe the family came into that Port. I have no idea how he came to be in Iowa. Henry married Ida Florence Ross from Fairbank, Iowa (Fayette/Buchanan Counties) in February 1887. Ida's parents were Samuel and Sarah Ross. Grandparent were Jacob Hart and Emily Ross of Olewein, Iowa. Children born to Ida and Henry were: George Henry Emerick (my father), Keith Ross Emrich, Beryl Emrich, Paul Jerry Emrich, Ethel Ida, Anna Sabelia, and Francis Cannis Emrich. Ida died in 1934 and Henry in 1951. - Mary Jo McQueen

I am looking for information on my gg- grandmother, Ernetina Emrich, who came to US in 1854, landing at NY.
She was 11 years old and travelling with her parents, Heinrich and Margarethe, and sister Louisa. I have no information on what happened to them after they landed. My gg-grandmother was living in Evanville, Indiana at the time of the birth of her daughter, Wallie Paulina (Emrich) March (b.1885), my g-grandmother. I think that there is a link to Johann Heinrich Emrich - but I have no idea if there is any other information. All assistance would be greatly appreciated. - Vicci Snyder

I need to restart my Emerick genealogy. My great grandmother was Mary Augusta STEIDEN who was born 9Aug1842.
I have seen her family's Bible which says her parents were Edward Steiden and Johanna Koehler who came from Germany in 1852. She lived in PA when married to Pvt. James Corbit who died in the Battle of the Wilderness in the Civil War. She removed to Harrison Co., IN and Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY where she married 7Apr1872 to Rev. Jacob Keller, a Lutheran minister. She died 26Feb1912. The Bible was owned by my grandfather's first cousin who never married. After her death about 15 years ago it passed on to her niece. In it was a slip of paper linking Edward Steiden's wife, Christine EMERICK to John Nicholas EMERICK, the millionaire, showing her father as Christopher EMERICK, brother to Nicholas and Valentine EMERICK. Does anyone show Christine in Christopher's family? Did some of the family stay in Germany? Or perhaps Edward Steiden's father was Edward who came in 1752?
I'm at a loss to figure this one out. Ideas?

Searching for the parents of Anna Catharina EMMERICH born about Feb 1716 in Hessen, Germany - married about 1732 to Johann Bernhard DAUM - died 23 Jan 1787 in Unter Mossau, Odenwald, Hessen, Germany. She was probably the daughter of a Johann Nicholaus EMMERICH and Granddaughter of a Johann Daniel EMMERICH but the Johann Nicholaus EMMERICH in Gross Umstadt son of Johann Daniel did not marry Catharina Barbara LAUTZ until 1718 and no birth for a daughter Anna Catharina was found.

My grandmothers name was Emma Cora Emerich, married to John Thomas Goens.
They are both buried in Beverly, Kansas. I don't have the birth or death dates of either grandparents. Their head stones have sunk into the ground so I have no way of getting any info off of them. I have never met my grandparents, so they must have died way before I was born. My father was born in 1905 so I know that my grandmother was still alive then.
If there is any information you could supply me with I would appreciate it very much.
Thank You, Sincerely, Martin William Goens

My Great Grandfather was John J. Emmerich from Rhineland Germany where he was an innkeeper. He married Katherine Lichtenthal. They had at least 3 children, Jacob J., (my Grandfather), Clara, and Margaret (who died young). Jacob and Clara came to US in 1883 or 84. Clara eventually returned to Germany. Jacob married Anna Clancy in 1900 and settled in Wisconsin. They had 3 sons, John, James, and Clarence Patrick, (my Father). There was also a daughter listed on the 1905 Illinois State Census records, Sarah Emmerick, 8 years old. She appears only that year. Does anyone have any info on Sarah, born in Illinois around 1897? Spelling of our last name was changed from Emmerich to Emmerick sometime after 1900. Thanks - Ciszewski

My gggrandfather was Henry Emrick, b. 1790-1799 in PA. He was HOH in Beaver Co., PA by 1840. He may have been a son of Henry Emrich and wife, of Bethel Twp, Berks Co., PA. The 1800 census shows them with 2 sons under 10, one son 10-16, and one daughter under 10. Do you know any of their names and can you confirm that his wife was Katarina Eisenhauer?
There was a cluster of Emricks in Allegheny, Beaver and Butler Counties PA in the mid-1800's. It's not clear what the relationships were among them. Several are men born around 1800 in PA, which suggests that they may be descended from the Emricks in eastern PA. The Henry that interests me was in Economy, Beaver Co. by 1840. His wife was Margaret ???, and they had children: Mariah, Henry, Eliza, Margaret, Sena and possibly others. My ggrandmother was Margaret b. 1840. She married a recent immigrant from Walzheim, GE, Johan Hieber, about 1859.
My Henry was born either 1791 or 1799. Unfortunately, the census microfilm was illegible in spots. Any help is appreciated. I have some data on the Emricks who went to Western PA and our line of Henrys in particular. - Bonnie Coy

I recently found my mother's biological family. Her name is Patricia and she was born 4May1940 in Altoona, Blair Co., PA to Marietta Thomas Gearhart and Donald Gearhart. . She has a sister Donna Mae Gearhart (MacIntire), and a brother Robert Gearhart. Patricia was given to a family in Punxsutawney at the age of 2, and they raised her as their own. Marietta remarried about 12 years later to Daniel Cerully. Marietta's mother was Clara Mae Emerick Thomas, and her father was Lawrence Thomas. Clara had sisters Eva and Dorothy. She also had three brothers John , Jim, and Patrick Emerick. I would appreciate any help on this line. Thanks in advance. Sheree Robinette
