27Mar1999 - The Bassman Family
Canadian Emerick search:
Matthius Emerick, was born in 1772 somewhere in New York state and died April 12,1853 buried in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. He supposedly came to Canada in 1801. Johann Matthias Emmerich (b.1720) could be the Father of my Matthius??? He would have been 52 when my Matthius was born.
Child of Matthius (b.1722) & Mary (b.1779, d.1899) (unknown) Emerick:
John Emerick born 1814 or 1819. Date of death unknown, married Susan (?) (b.1815, d.20 Oct.1853.)
CHILDREN:
Ransford Emerick married a Taggert
Cecillia Emerick
John jr. (1847-1942)
Mary Emerick
Thomas L. married a Taggert
Robert W. (1841-1908) married a Nicholson (Nickolson)
Have good records for descendants of Robert W. Some later names that are found in the family line (all Emerick) are: Thomas (several times),Harold, Jack, Wilfred, Hilton, Reid and Robert (several times).
The female names are Mary, Jean, Clare, Ruth, Helen, Audrey, Kay, Aileen, Marion, Vida and Harriet to name a few. Any of these names jog a memory of someone?? My cousins and I are getting pretty discouraged about linking our tree to other Emerick's in Ontario. We were told the family originated in Pennsylvania but so far have had no luck. Our branch of the family are from Muskoka, (Port Carling) and Northern Ontario. Please email to: [email protected]
