The records of the EMMERICH family in Gross Umstadt (which is located in Kreis Dieburg) Hessen, Germany, were found on LDS microfilm numbers 1340311 & 1340312. The birth records begin in 1567 but there are some years missing, and the marriage and death records begin in 1666. Some of the years in the early 1700's are illegible.

Caspar1 EMMERICH was born about 1540 in Hessen, Germany. He was the son of Hans EMMERICH.
The name Emmerich appears in Gross Umstadt in 1495. A list of transfer of deeds shows "Eltchin, the daughter of Emerichen" gave 1 bushel and 2 dry measures as a tithe. The court records mention the acceptance as citizens of Hans Emmerich (1532) and Caspar Emmerich (1569). He married Otilia before 1570 in Dieburg, Hessen, Germany. She was born 1548 in Hessen, Germany.

Jost2 EMMERICH (Caspar1) was christened 7 Feb 1574 in Gross Umstadt. He was the son of Caspar EMMERICH and Otilia. Jost died about 1635 in Germany. He was a council member in Gross Umstadt 1635 He married Eva about 1600 in Gross Umstadt. She was born about 1578 in Gross Umstadt. Eva died 1636.

Hans3 EMMERICH (Jost2, Caspar1) was christened 22 Mar 1607 in Gross Umstadt. He was the son of Jost EMMERICH and Eva. Hans died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt. He was Burgermeister of Umstadt He married Anna HAX 1635/1637 in Gross Umstadt. She was christened 22 Aug 1613 in Gross Umstadt. She was the daughter of Hans HAX and Anna Margaretha. Anna died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt. The surname was also spelled SACH or SAX.
i. Balthasar EMMERICH, christened 24 Apr 1638 in Gross Umstadt. He married Anna Catharina FLIESS 1660 in Gross Umstadt. She was christened 7 Feb 1641 in Gross Umstadt. She was the daughter of Johann Daniel FLIESS and Elisabeth SCHWOEBEL. Anna died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt.

Johann Maurer also married (2) Anna Maria BREIDENBACH, 21 Jul 1691 in Gross Umstadt. She was born 8 Jan 1662 in Gross Zimmern, Hessen, Germany. She was the daughter of Michel BREIDENBACH and Margartha HERBERT. Johann Maurer died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt.

Johannes died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt. Johannes was the Innkeeper for the Crown Inn. He married Gertrud FLIESS 19 Feb 1667 in Gross Umstadt. She was christened 24 May 1646 in Gross Umstadt. She was the daughter of Johann Daniel FLIESS and Elisabeth SCHWOEBEL. Gertrud died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt.

Johann Daniel5 EMMERICH (Johannes4, Hans3, Jost2, Caspar1) was christened 26 Nov 1667 in Gross Umstadt. He was the son of Johannes EMMERICH and Gertrudis FLIESS. Johann died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt. Johann Daniel was an Innkeeper or perhaps barrelmaker or chief council - Daniel purchased a Bible in 1719 which passed to Johann Nicholaus and then to Ludwig Albrecht DAUM. Possible Daughter Johanna Christina 4 Aug 1709 He married Anna Maria BREIDENBACH 20 Nov 1694 in Gross Umstadt. She was born 8 Jan 1662 in Gross Zimmern, Hessen, Germany. She was the daughter of Michel BREIDENBACH and Margartha HERBERT.
*Anna Breidenbach also married (1) Johann Balthasar MAURER 21 Jul 1691 in Gross Umstadt. He was born 17 Oct 1652 in Gross Umstadt. Johann died, and was buried in Gross Umstadt, Hessen, Ger.

vi. Anna Margretha EMMERICH, born 10 Sep 1706, and christened 14 Sep 1706 in Gross Umstadt.
vii. Johann Daniel EMMERICH, born 7 Jun 1708 and christened 10 Jun 1708 in Gross Umstadt. This record was VERY difficult to read and may have been mis-interpreted.
Johann Nicolaus6 EMMERICH* (Johann5, Johannes4, Hans3, Jost2, Caspar1) was born 13 Dec 1695 in Gross Umstadt, Hessen, Ger, and was christened 15 Dec 1695 in Gross Umstadt. He was the son of Johann Daniel EMMERICH and Anna Maria BREIDENBACH. Johann died 30 Oct 1771 in Gross Umstadt, Hessen, Ger, at the age of 75, and was buried in Gross Umstadt. He was a member of the town council of Gross Umstadt. He married (1) Catharina Barbara LAUTZ 1 Dec 1718 in Gross Umstadt. She was born 29 Aug 1700 in Gross Umstadt, Hessen, Ger, and was christened 29 Aug 1700 in Gross Umstadt. She was the daughter of Johann Martin LAUTZ and Regina Catharina Magdalena BRENER. Catharina died 15 Nov 1736 in Gross Umstadt, Hessen, Germany, at the age of 36.

Johann died 25 Mar 1768 in Guttersbach, Hessen, Ger, at the age of 66.
-There is some question as to the parents of Anna Catharina. She is thought to have been the daughter of a Johann Nicolaus and the granddaughter of a Johann Daniel thus she was placed in this family.
