Rachel Emerick and Christopher Schaefer
(My 4th Great Grandparents)

Rachel's parents were John Jacob Emerick and Susannah Rachel Henderson. She was born 27Nov1813 in Morgan County, IL. and died 12Feb1897 in Cass County, IL. She married Christopher on 8Jan1830 in Butler County, OH. I am doubly descended from John Jacob, as his son William is also my GGGGgrandfather. Rachel and Christopher's daughter Emeline (^above right^) married William's son John and had my 2nd Great Grandmother, Rosa Emerick Pope (picture below)
This is my 2nd GreatAunt, Mary Jane Emerick. She is the daughter of Emeline Schaefer Emerick. She is in the middle wearing the dark dress. This picture was taken circa 1903 when the girls were going to college together. The girl above her is May Schaefer (a cousin) and the one below her is Lena Schaefer (a cousin and also a sister to May). The other girl is a friend of theirs, May Lightfoot
