Roane Co. TN - The State versus Caleb Woods, 1822

Roane County, TN County Court Minutes (located in the new {current}
courthouse):

July 24, 1822, The State versus Caleb Woods:  Came the Attorney General
and the Defendant in their proper persons who submits to the court and
the court having assessed his fine to $.50.  Daniel Thomas and James
Hankins came into court and together with the Defendant confessed
judgment (can^Òt read two words) give aforesaid and the costs.  Therefore
it is considered by the court that the State recover of the Defendant and
Daniel Thomas and James Hankins the (can^Òt read this word) the fine
aforesaid and the costs in his behalf (can^Òt read this word) for which
execution may (can^Òt read the last word).
Note:  Haven^Òt yet found any record of the charges against Caleb Wood in

[This is most likely connected to the beating of John Oliver
Caleb Wood's first wife was Polly Oliver.  Don't know if John is a
brother or the father of Polly, yet. - David Morgan ]
