Robert Derricott family history

Robert is the author of Derricott Family History: the House of Dodo © Revised 2011.

This follows three decades of research. Extracts are reproduced in the following web pages, including:

Ancestral Brief (c.1800-2011);

Male Line (c.1470-c.1800);

Branches of Derricott; and

Origin of the family name (c.715-c.1500).

169 spelling variations of the family name.

Three branches of the family name in the UK and branches in the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan.

All these appear to share a common root in a place name, a Saxon tithing in Gloucestershire, UK, sold in 1106.

This tithing appears to be one of at least five manors held by an earlier Saxon, entitling him to apply his name to the place.
