Conrad, the third son of Jacob Fair (Fehr) and grandson of Christoph and Elizabeth Euclin Fehr, was born August 21, 1806 in Baltimore County, near Manchester, Maryland during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson.

At the age of eleven, Conrad's family moved to Allegheny Twn, Somerset County, Pennsylvania i.e. 1816 where his father purchased 150 acres from John Albright in November of 1816.

Conrad died at the age of 84 on the Fair homestead near Adeline, seven miles from Cameron, West Virginia.

It's believed Conrad, as a young man, lived and worked in Washington County, Pa., where he meet his future wife, Rebecca Kern. He and Rebecca were married in 1831. To this union five children were born: John, died at age 19,William, served in the Civil War, Absalom, born in Marshall County, W Va in 1843, lived to be 95, stating he cast his first vote for Lincoln. Eliza, unknown. Susan, unknown

Based on a report given by Absalom, to a local newspaper, this report became the earliest evidence that Conrad moved his family to West Virginia about 1843. It's unclear where Conrad and his family resided between 1831and 1843. It's quite possible he remained in Pennsylvania.

According to family word, Conrad and Rebecca and children settled near Bethany in Marshall County, W VA, in 1843 where Conrad began working for his brother-in-law John Black at his grain mill near Bethany, West Virginia.( Deed Book #5 of Marshall County, W VA. shows a recorded property transfer of 100 acres at "Middle Bowman Run" to Conrad Fair on February 16, 1844.) John Black married Conrad's sister, Maria Barbara Fair. Rebecca died about 1843, when her children were small. According to Absalom the family moved near Proctor in Wetzel County, W Va in 1850.

Conrad then married Elizabeth Holmes about 1843. Their only child was named, Rebecca. She died at the age of ten. Elizabeth died soon after her daughter about 1853. (Wetzel County deed Book #2, page 182 recorded a transfer of tracts totaling 200 acres on "Proctor Run" to Conrad on April 15, 1853).

After the death of Elizabeth, Conrad married a third time to Mary Jane Allen in about 1853 or 54. Their first son, David, was born in 1855. They apparently remained at "Proctor Run", in Wetzel County until after the Civil War. Conrad, however, continued to purchase property in Wetzel County as late as December 1865. In 1866, Conrad purchased 449 acres in Marshall County as recorded in deed Book 17 page 184 on "Fish Creek". This property was considered the "homestead" farm.

Mary Jane and Conrad family included five sons and two daughters they were: David married Florence Mason they first lived on a farm at Lick Run near Adeline, later to farm above Fish Creek and in 1907 moved to "The Conrad Fair" homestead farm. They had seven children they were; Annie b 1877, Cornelia, Foster David (died in infancy), Charles Arthur b 1883 d 1959, Roscoe, b 1891, Rhoda Lucille, b 1893, d 1973, Florence, Charles Pershing, Sarah married John Wilson a teacher and farmer. She died at the age of 38. Franklin married Mary Virginia Mason. At the age of seventeen he was teaching school in Adeline, one of his students was Mary Virginia. He later taught in several "one room schools" in Marshall and Brooke Counties. Franklin was also a lay minister and founded three churches and ministered them. Later he gave up the "homestead" farm and moved to Bethany and enrolled in Bethany College where he furthered his education satisfying his longing for higher education. Henry, married Jessie Cowl, from Wheeling, W Va and farmed in Marshall and Brooke counties.

Mary Jane, married a farmer and lived near Moundsville, W Va. Jacob, was a farmer. Later he moved with family to Freeport, Ohio near Cambridge.

Grant, married Olivia Mason. He was a farmer throughout his life.
