The Last Will and Testament of Chauncey B. Emmons

The last will and testament of Chauncey B. Emmons of the town of West Monroe, County of Oswego and State of New York.

I, Chauncey B. Emmons, aware of the uncertainty of life, do make, ordain, publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
That is to say: after the payment of my funeral charges, the expenses of administering my estate and my lawful debts, I give and bequeath my property as follows:

1st- To my wife Chloe R. Emmons all my personal property for her own use and support (after my lawful debts, funeral charges or as foresaid are discharged), also all my real estate with the rents, issues and profits thereof for and during the term of her natural life, and from and after the decease of my said wife, I give and bequeath the said lands and hereditaments to my children and their heirs and assigns as follows, vis
To my son Franklin T. Emmons the ten acres of land lying in the town, county and state first aforesaid and being on the east side of the highway leading from Brewerton to West Monroe.
To my daughter Arabelle Orman, I give and bequeath the lot of land lying next to the lands owned by John Sanders containing nine and three quarters (9 3/4) acres of land. Also three fourths of one acre of land situate on the ridge & being bounded on the east by the highway aforesaid for thus purposes of a building site. All the rest, residue, and remainder of my real estate I give and bequeath to my son Isaac Emmons his heirs and assigns.

Likewise I name, constitute and appoint Franklin T. Emmons of the city of Syracuse, County of Onondaga & State of New York to be executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness hereof I have herewith subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 18th eighteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-two.

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Chauncey B. Emmons in our presence and acknowledged by him and each of us and he at the same time declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament and we at his request signed our names as witnesses hereto, in his presence and in the presence of each other and written opposite our names our place of residence.

Chauncey died on June 06, 1882 and Chloe appeared in court on July 8th, 1882 to have the will proved. On July 22, after the witnesses to the will, Edward N. Emmons and Henry Emmons appeared before the surrogate and with no objections the will was approved.
