Jonathan Emons (1500's) a basket maker from County of Surrey, England.

Martha Tomson (1613?--1666) and Thomas Emons (1609-05/11/1664)  were married on May 08, 1626 at St. Bride Fleet Street Church in London, England and are first found in the New World in 1638 as residents of Newport, Aquidneck, (Island of Roses) now known as Rhode Island. Thomas was admitted as a freeman in Rhode Island on 03/20/1638. He was admitted as an inhabitant of Boston, Massachusetts on June 29th, 1648. Thomas and Martha were admitted as members of the First Church in Boston on 02/18/1651, Freeman in Boston, 06/25/1652, and he was chosen as Sealer of Leather on April 4th, 1662. Thomas was a cordwainer (shoemaker). They owned property on Conduit street in Boston, Mass. They had seven children:

Bartholomew baptized at Saint Ann Blackfriar's Church in London, England on 10/19/1628 died 01/12/1629.

Obadiah baptized 02/02/1636/7 at the Saint Ann Blackfriar's Church in London, England, died in1705. He was also a cordwainer. 1st marriage to Alice Sharp on October 16, 1656 at Saint Peter Paul's Wharf, London, England. Alice Sharp Emmons died in 1672.

Samuel baptized 02/17/1635 at the Stepney Street Mary White Chapel in London, died October 27, 1685 in Boston, Mass. He was a cordwainer. Married to Mary Scott 08/06/1660 by Richard Bellingham, Deputy Governor of Massachusetts.

Elizabeth born about 1642 probably in Rhode Island.  Married to John Hinchman on 08/10/1660 by Major Humphrey Atherton. Not listed in her mother's will so assumed deceased prior to 1666.

Benjamin born probably in Newport, RI about 1645 (baptized 03/08/1651 in Boston) died 11/23/1710. His will was proven on 12/19/1710. He was a cordwainer. Married to Mary ----- in 1668. Mary died 09/12/1690.

Joseph born probably at Newport, RI about 1647(baptized on 03/08/1651). He was also a cordwainer. Married to Mary Webster Swaine on June 12, 1694. Resided in Hampton Falls, NH.

In the Emmons book it was documented that Joseph had three other children but this was in error. Joseph settled in the state of New Hampshire and has several descendants.

A genealogical record of Thomas Emons and his descendants was compiled in 1905 by Edward Neville Emmons and published by Lyman Bros. Printers, Syracuse, NY.
