Generation 1
This surname is also shown as Rattenouer, Rotnower, Rotenower. The Ratnour's are a very elusive branch. They were located primarily in New York. The 1st generation that we have found were Heinrich and Christiana Rattenauer in Mohawk, Montgomery County, NY. They were from Hesse Darmstadt,Germany. His son, Godfrey Ratnour born 1805/1806 in Germany married Elizabeth Landers born 10/18/1811 daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Landers in Albany County, NY. Their children born in Onondaga County,  NY are as follows:

Generation 2 
Benjamin A married Mary A.  ----- born 1852 in NY. She died in 1895.  Their children are:

H. William b 1869/1870 married Josephine ----- born 1850/1851 in NY Their children are:
Benjamin b 1902/1903

S. Eugene b 1873/1874 married Catherine ------ born 1875/1876 in Germany

Nettie Adela Ratnour born 08/03/1872 married 1st John Henry Clemons, 2nd Isaac B. Emmons and 3rd to Fred Mathues.

Minnie Ratnour born 1874 married -------- Modix. She died 1898.
