North Tonawanda's "old library" was erected in 1903 with funds donated by industrialist Andrew Carnegie. It served as a public library for the Tonawandas for over 70 years. It is one of the nearly three thousand such libraries built in the United States between 1885 and 1919 with funds donated from the wealthy philanthropist. The Carnegie Art Center was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. |
