HOBBES

How we came to have Hobbes is an interesting story. Just prior to moving to Louisiana I found that a stray cat

had had kittens in one of our dog houses. She looked like a very young cat and when I asked around the

neighborhood, no one claimed to know who she belonged to. Me having the soft spot for animals like I do

I had to make sure she was going to be alright. So I fed her some tuna fish. Of course any one that knows

any thing about animals knows that once they have found a source of food, they will adopt you.

Mother Cat with all her babies. She finally trusted me enough to bring them into the house.

Once again Camie shows her natural mothering talents by nursing five motherless kittens to weaning.

I went out to check on them the next day and found that the mother had moved them. She obviously wasn't

sure of my motives yet. I left some more tuna at the dog house. Sure enough she found it. After a couple of days

of this she began to become more & more friendly. One day while away she managed to get the kittens into the house.

I found them in the linen closet wrapped up in a towel. Once again she moved them. I found them this time

in a box full of packing peanuts. When it came time to move, I still hadn't found the rightful owner, and no one

wanted the added burden of six cats. Sooo, I packed them in the car and off we went.

This looks like a good place for a nap.

All went well until I stopped in Alexandria to get some gas. While I was paying, the mother cat must have jumped

out of the car. Of course I didn't know this and I preceded on my way. When I got to Leesville I discovered her

missing. There was no way I was driving back to Alexandria that early in the morning. I arrived at our new house

where Camie was waiting on me. Little did she know that I had five orphaned kittens. After driving for two days

with little sleep, I was in no condition to deal with the babies. Camie took over.

Nothing beats a kitten nap in a poncho liner!

 Hobbes loves the holiday season
