Notes

22. Samuel HOLMES

Source: personal record of Delbert R. Phillips of Provo, Utah.

23. Laurinda ENSIGN

Birthdate: Ensign History at the Salt Lake Genealogical Library, A2-A19 1939 shows female child #3, Lurinda Ensign, b. 10 Apr. 1808, daughter of Seymour Ensign b. 1780 d. 24th Sept. 1854; and second wife, Charlotte Holiday b. 1789 d. 15 June 1866, both of Westfield, Hampden, Mass.
This information does not harmonize with one Family Group Record of Samuel Holmes b. 1 April 1802 d. 10 Dec. 1863 or (Clayton) Clayton, Iowa; and Laurinda Ensign b. 1 April 1804 of Clayton Co. Iowa or Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas. (No's. 14 and 15 on Chart #1).
Since this is the person linking the ancestry of William Harrison Phillips and Delbert R. Phillips on the line of Samuel Holmes and Laurinda Ensign to the Ensign Genealogy A2-A19 in the Salt Lake Genealogical Library, it needs be reconciled. There is some reason to believe that this may be the same person since there has been a tradition in the family of Martha Charlotte Robinson b. 31 Mar. 1863, d. 28 Oct. 1953, wife of John Ross Phillips b. 21 June 1838 d.
27 Feb. 1901 (corrected date); that she was named after her mother's aunt who was female #11 b. 24 Dec 1824 to Seymour Ensign and Charlotte Holiday mentioned above.
