Miscellaneous Mellett

Birth Name Miscellaneous Mellett

The background to this is, I was going through my brother-in-laws family photos when I came across a carry bag containing letters and photos, clearly belonging to Joan Mellett.

My brother-in-law and his wife know nothing about them, but they had recently empted his mother-in-laws flat and most likely had come from her, Kathleen Bunch married Percy Stanley Cansdale, later married William George Lockyer
Where they come from we will probably never know.

Dear Eve,
Thank you for your E-mail.

The background to this is, I was going through my brother-in-laws family photos when I came across a carry bag containing letters and photos, clearly belonging to Joan.
My brother-in-law and his wife know nothing about them, but they had recently empted his mother-in-laws flat and most likely had come from her, Kathleen Bunch married Percy Stanley Cansdale later married William George Lockyer. Where they come from we will probably never know.

They start with 2 postcards from your father, sent to Joan, 1928/1930 giving details of yours and sister Anna's births.
Then 1935-1940 about 20 letters from Anna and 20 from yourself sent to Joan.

1955 Newspaper cutting. You doing Election work.
1956 Newspaper cutting, Your engagement.
1956 Joan’s invitation to your wedding.

There is also 7 postcards that Joan sent to her mother/sister in July 1939, when she toured South Wales in her car. There is a photo of the car with Joan in it ?

There is 5 photos, taken on the same day, which may be of you, Anna and your parents ?, one attached.

There are another 40+ photos, details to follow.

I am happy to post all or some of the letters / photos to you. Or e-mail what ever is of interest to you or post and E-mail.

Joan clearly care a lot for your family, keeping these bits for 40 + years and so well that they are in very good condition for 80+ years.

Joan, as you said, was born in Henley-on-Thames, 18 February 1896. [Father and Grandfather both vets]
After her father died in 1914 and her sister Iva in 1929, Joan, her mother and sister Maud, moved to 94 Park Road, Kingston Hill, Surrey, at which address it appears they all passed on, Joan, last on 22 May 1973. [Joan did have a brother but he died under 1 year old.]

Joan has no close relatives, the 3 sisters and 2 aunts, on her father's side [No uncles] all died as spinsters. [Do not know about her mothers side.]
